Please read these Terms carefully before using Legal Times. They explain your rights and responsibilities as a reader and our obligations to you.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Legal Times website (legaltimes.news, the 'Site'), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ('Terms'). If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must discontinue use of the Site immediately. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

2. Permitted Use

Legal Times grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Site for personal, non-commercial reading purposes. You may not: (a) reproduce, distribute or republish our editorial content without written permission; (b) use automated scraping tools against the Site; (c) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site or its infrastructure; or (d) use the Site in any manner that could damage, overburden or impair its availability.

3. Intellectual Property

All editorial content, photographs, graphics, logos, trade marks and software on the Site are the property of Legal Times or its licensors and are protected by applicable copyright, trade mark and other intellectual-property laws. The 'Legal Times' name and logo are registered trade marks. Nothing in these Terms grants you any licence to use our intellectual property beyond what is expressly stated herein.

4. User Submissions

If you submit a story tip, letter or other content to Legal Times, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, publish, edit and translate that content in connection with our editorial activities. You warrant that any submission is your original work and does not infringe any third-party right. We are not obligated to publish any submission.

5. Editorial Accuracy & Corrections

We strive for accuracy and issue corrections promptly when errors are identified. However, information on the Site is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind. Legal Times is not liable for decisions made based on information published on the Site. For time-sensitive legal, medical or financial matters, always consult a qualified professional.

7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legal Times, its directors, employees and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed INR 1,000 (or its equivalent) in any twelve-month period. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legal Times and its affiliates, officers, employees and licensors from and against any claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or applicable law, your submissions or your use of the Site.

9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. We encourage you to contact us at legal@legaltimes.news before initiating formal proceedings; many disputes can be resolved informally and quickly.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Sections 3, 7, 8 and 9 shall survive any termination.
